On August 26, at EMGEPRON’s administrative headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), the Declaration of Effectiveness of the Contract for the acquisition of the “Tamandaré Class” Frigates was signed. This administrative act represents a milestone for the continuity of the necessary steps for the construction of four modern ships, endowed with high combat power and technological capacity.
The “Classe Tamandaré” Frigate Program is part of the process of renewing the naval assets of the Brazilian Fleet, aiming to increase the defense capacity (monitoring and protection) of the Blue Amazon. The ships will be built in a national shipyard with high levels of local content, and Technology Transfer is planned. This fact will contribute to the generation of jobs and to the strengthening of the Country’s Defense Industrial Base.
